Annual Report 2012 Released

Transportation Research Center Inc.'s (TRC Inc.) Fiscal Year 2012 Annual report is now available for download on our website: http://www.trcpg.com/about-trc/annual-report.aspx.

The report highlights three areas: facility and equipment improvements; business area reports for Durability and Dynamics Operations, Laboratory Operations, and Contract Services; and information on community outreach and corporate activities.

Automotive Testing Expo North America 2012

Transportation Research Center Inc. attended the Automotive Testing Expo North America, which took place from October 23-25, 2012 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Michigan. The event highlighted the very latest technologies and services that are designed to ensure that the highest standards are met in terms of product quality, reliability, durability and safety.

2012 Ohio Green Fleets Showcase & Technology Expo


 
Transportation Research Center Inc. attended the 2012 Ohio Green Fleets Showcase and annual Awards Luncheon and Technology Expo, which was held on September 12, 2012 at The River Club at Confluence Park, in Columbus, Ohio. The event's activities highlighted the creative strategies that certified fleets have used to improve vehicle fuel efficiency and environmental performance.

Roger Schroer Wins Dean’s Meritorious Service to Students Award


The Ohio State University’s College of Engineering celebrated its 15th Annual Faculty Awards on May 15, 2012, at The Blackwell Inn. These awards celebrate research accomplishments, the pursuit of knowledge, outstanding teaching abilities, strategic partnerships, and much more. 

Transportation Research Center Inc.’s (TRC Inc.) Roger Schroer was one of the recipients this year for his work with The Ohio State University’s Center for Automotive Research, Buckeye Bullet team.  Roger received the “Dean’s Meritorious Service to Students Award”, which recognizes an individual or group from outside the Ohio State community for exemplary service to students of the College of Engineering or Knowlton School of Architecture.  The award recognizes the support of engineering or architecture students through classroom presentations, internship and co-op opportunities, scholarship, and student organization or activity support.  College departments and recognized student organizations can submit nominations.

Roger has driven three Ohio State electric land-speed vehicles to world records that continue to stand today.  When asked what the most exciting part about setting these records, Roger’s response was that, “the true thrill comes from witnessing the teamwork involved in building the car.”

Adopt-A-Highway 2012

On May 4, 2012 Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC Inc.) employees took part in the Adopt-A-Highway clean-up. TRC Inc. has been adopting two miles on U.S. Route 33, for over 17 years. The cleaning takes place two times a year, typically in May and October.

Governor Kasich Visits TRC


Ohio Governor John Kasich and members from JobsOhio stopped by to visit Transportation Research Center (TRC) on April 19, 2012. The group was in the area visiting local employers to encourage business development in Ohio. 

During the visit, Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC Inc.) President Rick Gildow provided Governor Kasich with an overview of TRC’s history.  Following the presentation, Roger Schroer, TRC Inc. performance driver, took Governor Kasich for a lap on the Dynamic Handling Course, followed by a ride on the 7.5-Mile Test Track.

SAE World Congress 2012

The SAE World Congress 2012 took place on April 24-26, 2012 in Detroit, Michigan. This year’s theme was “Get Connected,” which highlighted the new and diverse connections that will drive significant advancements in the auto industry of tomorrow.  Not only did the theme symbolize literal connections, such as those between vehicles, infrastructure, the Internet, and the nation's electrical grid, but it also demonstrated the most fundamental of connections; the connections and relationships between engineers who are developing the next generation vehicle technology.

Once again, TRC Inc. exhibited a booth at the show. The staff is pictured from left to right:  Jeffrey Sprague, Samantha Wagoner, Milt Dunlop, and Paige Duff.

TRC Inc. attended the 18th Annual Automotive News PACE™ (Premier Automotive Suppliers’ Contributions to Excellence) Awards, on April 23, 2012 during the SAE International Exposition in Detroit, Michigan.  TRC Inc. is a proud sponsor of the PACE Awards, which honors automotive suppliers who have embraced innovation or adapted and reinvented themselves to meet the demands of the original equipment manufacturers. Government & Industry Meeting

Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC Inc.) recently attended the 2012 SAE Government and Industry Meeting in Washington, DC, from January 25-27. The event was held in conjunction with the Washington Auto Show and the purpose was to provide an open exchange of ideas with automotive industry participants.

With a focus on energy conservation, environment, and safety, the technical sessions consisted of 19 various industry topics including:  crash avoidance; crashworthiness; child safety; biomechanics; biofuels; electric drive; driver distraction; natural gas and other alternative fuels; light-duty fuel economy and regulations; and much more.  There were 14 different exhibitors, including a booth from TRC Inc.

TRC Inc. Board Changes


The Transportation Research Center Inc. (TRC Inc.) Board of Directors would like to acknowledge the retirement of two Board members; Ms. Greta J. Russell and Mr. C. John Easton.

Ms. Russell, University Controller at The Ohio State University, has served on the Board since January 2002.  Mr. Thomas Ewing, Interim Controller, will replace Ms. Russell on the TRC Inc. Board, effective January 2012.

Mr. Easton, Chairman (retired) Honeywell Sensotec, has served on the Board since December 2004. As of this date, a replacement has not been named for Mr. Easton.

We thank Ms. Russell and Mr. Easton for their service to TRC Inc. and are pleased to welcome Mr. Ewing to the Board.
